Tireless Tecno is at it again! Within the last 10 days, the company has churned out three new smartphones into the Nigerian market: The P3S, the S3, and the M7, which we’ll be reviewing here.
Though not really different from the Phantom F7, the new M7 still differs from its predecessor in some technical aspects. And this is why we’re reviewing the device here to help you make a well informed buying decision.
Now, let’s look at the M7 in more detail.
Like the F7, the new M7 spots a 5-inch display. But on comparison, the F7 has a sharper display (720 x 1280 pixel resolution) than the M7 (480 x 854 pixel resolution).
While both devices have touchscreen displays as expected, the F7 has a TFT capacitive display while the new M7 has a WVGA display.
The M7 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. So, in this aspect, the device takes a step ahead of the F7, which runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Processor and memory
The M7 is powered by a 1.3GHz MT6572 dual core processor, which is a bit stronger than the F7’s 1.0GHz processor. Both devices are packed with GPUs for smooth handling of graphics.
Like the F7, the new M7 has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (which can be extended to up to 32GB with a microSD card.
The M7 flaunts an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. Comparing the cameras with those of the F7, there are no spec differences.
The M7 packs a 2000 mAh battery, which is good enough for a phone with such a massive display. Yet, it still lags slightly behind the F7’s 2100mAh battery. But this difference may be insignificant after all.
Comparing the M7 with the older F7, the M7 is a bit bulkier. While the F7 measures 143.5 x 70.8 x 9.1mm, the M7 measures 146.7 x 76 x 10.4mm.
Aside the few differences highlighted above the M7 and the F7 are similar in other aspects (except design, of course).
Here are the full specs of the new Tecno M7
