Tecno H8 (Droipad 8) vs Samsung Galaxy Tab E (Unbiased Review)

On a general note, while Samsung Galaxy Tab E is a simple but solid and productive tablet, Tecno H8 (Droipad 8) is somewhat of a low-end tablet with the attraction of exciting music features.  The unique points for the Samsung Galaxy Tab E are its Kids Mode and Smart Tutor.  The Tab E is Wi-Fi only while Tecno H8 has 2G and 3G connectivity.


Samsung Galaxy Tab E, although a bigger tablet, has more appealing design specs than the Tecno H8 (Droipad 8).  Tab E is slimmer, and rather than the all-smooth finish of the Droipad 8, Tab E has a rear casing that is of non-slip fabric finish to make it comfortable for the hand to hold.


In display, Samsung Galaxy Tab E is more of a tablet than the Tecno H8.  Screen size for the Tab E is 9.6 inches but 8 inches for the Tecno H8.  Resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels for the Tab E and 768 x 1024 pixels for the Tecno H8.  The big screen of the Tab E is put to advantage with a multi-window feature that allows simultaneous use of two apps.

OS, Processor and Memory

Both tabs employ the Android OS but it is the more recent version 5.0 (Lollipop) for the Tecno H8 and version 4.4.1 (KitKat) for Tab E.

Processor capacity is same quad core with 1.3GHz speed for both tablets.  RAM for Tab E is bigger at 1.5 GB than the 1 GB for Tecno H8.

Internal storage space is 16 GB for Tecno H8 but 8 GB for Tab E.  However, Tab E supports more data storage with provision for 128 GB microSD over the 32 microSD of the Tecno H8.


5 MP Rear and 2 MP front cameras are essentially the same for Samsung galaxy Tab E as well as Tecno h8 (Droipad 8).  Both tablets have camera features like geo-tagging and autofocus but while Tecno H8 is equipped with LED Flash, Tab E has no Flash.


Comparing batteries of the Tecno H8 and Samsung Galaxy Tab E could be a little tricky.  The capacities are about the same – 5100 mAh for Tecno H8 and 5000 mAh for the Tab E – but the Tab E with its 5000 mAh serves better yielding 26 hours talk time compared to the 15 hours talk time of the Tecno H8 with 5100 mAh.  The battery for Tecno H8 is user-removable while the battery for Tab E is not.

While you can get Tecno H8 (Droipad) for about N31,000, the Samsung Galaxy Tab E costs N58,000.  From the specs, a higher price for Samsung Galaxy Tab E over Tecno H8 (Droipad) seems justifiable.
