Tecno F8 (Phantom A2) vs Infinix Race Alpha: The Clash of 2 Phablets!

infinix race alpha

The battle for supremacy between the two low-end smartphone makers, Tecno and Infinix seems to be nowhere near its end, as Infinix has just also released its phablet, the Race Alpha to give Tecno’s Phantom A2 a good fight for Android users’ attention.

With both devices falling a bit on the high side, speculations are emerging that both companies are gradually creeping into the league of mid-range device manufacturers. But only time will tell…

Here, we’ll be drawing a comparison between the Tecno Phantom A2 (F8) and the Infinix Race Alpha.

There’s no much difference here. Both devices spot a 5.7″ capacitive touchscreen display. And this is why they’re regarded as phablets (phone + tablet combo). Both screens have a 720 x 1280-pixel resolution.

The Race Alpha’s display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and this gives it the slight lead. But the Phantom A2 promises a crisper display as it adds HD display technology.

Processor and OS

Again, no real difference here. Both devices run on a 1.2GHz quad core processor. But while the Race Alpha runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean), the Phantom A2 runs on version 4.2.2 (more recent). But this difference is too insignificant to influence one’s choice.

The Phantom A2 wins here, as it flaunts a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The Race Alpha on the other hand, features a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

Both devices run on 1GB of RAM. But there’s a marked difference between them in terms of internal storage capacity. The Phantom A2 packs only 4GB of internal memory, but the Race Alpha has 16GB. However, both the internal memory can be expanded with a microSD card in both devices.

There’s a slight difference here. While Tecno’s phablet comes with a 2630 mAh Li-ion battery, the Race Alpha comes with a 2600 mAh Li-ion battery. No difference per se.

Both devices cost N45,000 at the Parktel Online Store.

Aside the major differences discussed so far, both devices are similar in virtually all other aspects.
