Swift 4G LTE Broadband: Fastest Internet Service in Nigeria!

If you’re living in Lagos, and you’ve been unimpressed by the snail-speed internet services offered by the major telecom networks, you now have a big reason to smile.

Swift Broadband Nigeria, a Lagos-based high-speed internet service provider recently launched its 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology. This innovation is the long-awaited solution to sluggish internet speed for individuals and corporate users.

Presently, Swift Broadband is having the service tested by 500 volunteers. Each volunteer received a 4G LTE modem loaded with 20GB (all for free).

One of the volunteers, who shared his thoughts after testing the new 4G internet service had the following to say:

I can now say that the solution to sluggish internet speed has come for individuals and business users. I honestly hope that this good speed will not be because of just 500 volunteers that are on it.

I hope when it’s finally released to the whole public, the connection speed will still remain because I have ordered my IPTV from Hong Kong (Ali Express) to enjoy my TV channels without relying on DSTV and co any more for their limited offerings.

I may have to stop my subscription to Coollink YahClick Ka-band internet connection because it is not even near to this speed.

The LTE modem was delivered free of charge to me as a volunteer tester with 20GB data limit to test it. I opened the package, delivered by UPS courier, and discovered that the Swift 4G LTE modem is better than the existing 4G WiMax modem in many aspects.

The new modem has a Wireless LAN of 802.11b/g/n, unlike the old modem which has a WLAN rating of 802.11g. The new LTE modem uses a removable USIM card, which means I can remove it and insert SIM cards by other mobile networks. I haven’t tried this though, but I guess the modem may have been locked.

The LTE modem also uses rechargeable battery cells that enable it to work in the absence of electric power.

When I tested the connection speed on the 4G LTE modem at intervals, I got the following results:

  • 14.10 Mbps download speed, 1.70 Mbps upload speed
  • 13.76 Mbps download speed, 1.54 Mbps upload speed
  • 14.03 Mbps download speed, 1.48 Mbps upload speed
  • 19.23 Mbps download speed, 2.16 Mbps upload speed

Now, from what the reviewer stated, the service is very fast — in fact, much faster than what the major telecom network providers have been offering. However, he expressed uncertainty over the sustainability of this speed when more people subscribe to the service.

      Hello chris,

The way swift 4G modems are configured, it’s works only with swift sim cards. You might need to buy the Swift 4G modem if you intend to switch
